If your website address isn’t working or you are getting security errors when using your URL without www. at the beginning (e.g. http://yourdomain.org.uk) a change needs to be made by your existing DNS/Domain Name supplier, which Access Raise doesn’t have access to.
Someone from your organisation can update this through the website of your DNS/Domain Name company or you can ask them to update it for you. If you have an IT team, they should be able to help you with this.
In order for the website to work without the www you will need to set up web forwarding with your DNS provider.
If you do not set up web forwarding through one of these alternative routes, users typing your URL into the search bar without the www will be taken to an error page.
There are two options to resolve this:
Adding a forwarding to your DNS panel (preferred option)
Using an external provider
Add a forwarding to your DNS panel
Log in to your DNS dashboard.
Follow your DNS instructions to forward the non-www domain to the www domain.
We recommend taking a screenshot or copy of your DNS records before adding the web forwarding in case you need to re-add any afterwards.
If you get stuck you can contact your DNS provider (if you’re not sure who this is you can check on who.is) to ask them for help.
📌 Note: If your DNS provider is 123 REG, when you add web forwarding it sometimes removes the CNAME record for www. If this happens you’ll need to re-add the record (this usually ends with .cloud.ritdns.com) from your screenshot.
Use an external provider
Use an external provider such as NakedSSL.
Once you've set up the account, Nakedssl will provide an IP address for an A record.
Log into your DNS panel and add that A record pointing to the IP address provided by NakedSSL.
Please make sure you do not delete the CNAME for yourwebsite.y.cloud.ritdns.com.
Once you have the web forwarding in place with Nakedssl, remove this record:
Record type: @ / A
IP address: 13.80.97.172
⚠️ Important: Please ensure you do not modify the CNAME record for www, nor should you add an A record for www. as this will break the website.
