Follow the steps below to create an event post.
Create an event
Click Events, then Create.
Enter the title of your event in the Title field.
The URL will be generated automatically but you can change it as needed in the URL field.
Events do not have the preview function but if you leave the Post is LIVE box unchecked they won't be visible to the public.
Enter an event code in the Event code field.
Every event must have a unique code so the platform can identify it. Choose a code that makes sense to you and helps you easily identify the event. For example, for the 2019 Great North Run you might use GNR2019.
Click the Start date field and select the start date of the event from the calendar.
Select the start time from the Start time dropdown menus.
Click the End date field and select the end date of the event from the calendar.
Select the end time from the End time dropdown menus.
Check the Fundraising event box if you want the event to appear in the Are you taking part in one of our events? dropdown menu when someone creates a new fundraiser page on your site.
This will also add the event to the filter Fundraisers by event dropdown menu on your main fundraisers page.
Enter the location of the event in the address fields.
If the marker is not exactly where you want it, you can click and drag it to the desired place.
Click Update map.
Check Display map if you want the map to be visible to your visitors on the event page.
If this is left unchecked then only the address will appear.
Enter a summary of the content of your page in the Summary field.
Summary text will appear on any listing pages which feature the post. The summary text will also act as the meta description for the page - this is the description which appears in search engine results underneath the link for the page.
Add the content for the event in the WYSIWYG editor.
Tickets
If you want to add tickets to your event click the Add tickets heading to expand the block.
Click the Add a ticket button and then complete the following fields:
Enter a title for the ticket in the Title field, for example Professionals, Students, Low income etc.
Enter a price for the ticket in the Price field. If it's a free ticket enter 0.
Enter the number of these tickets you have to sell in the Qty field.
This is a required field so even if you have no limit to the number of tickets, make sure you enter a high number.
(Optional) Click on the Image icon and select your image from the Media Centre.
Click Add event product image.
Select the Enquiry box if you want to make a ticket or place enquiry only.
This means people can't book a place but they can express an interest. When someone expresses an interest, the platform will send you an email to let you know. This can be useful for events like the London Marathon where you may only have a few places and want to vet applicants first.
You can add multiple tickets for the same event. For example, you may offer different prices on a training course for professionals and students, requiring two different ticket options.
Add more fields for a particular ticket option
If you want to add more fields for a particular ticket option, click Collect additional info underneath it.
Bear in mind that you will already collect the name and email address of the person who books the ticket(s) as part of the booking process.
To add additional fields:
Enter the title for the field in the Label field, eg. Date of birth. There is a maximum limit of 55 characters per label.
Select the Req box if you want this to be a required field.
Select the type of field you want to use from the Type dropdown menu, e.g. Drop down, Checkbox, Radio button list.
Enter the possible choices in the Options field, if applicable to the field type (e.g. Drop down). Each option must be on a separate line.
Check the Post is LIVE box if you want the event to be visible on your website.
Click Create.
π Note: It is not possible to create an event where users can choose what they pay. In these cases, we would recommend creating a range of fixed prices for users to select from.
