Identify your fonts

Identify your website’s primary and fallback fonts using browser developer tools.

Written by Cristiana Ghinea

Browsers show your website using the primary font you have set; if that font isn’t available, a fallback font is used instead.

Steps to identify your website’s fonts

  1. Open your website in Chrome or Edge (no login needed).

  2. Right-click on any text and select Inspect.

  3. In the panel that appears, click the Computed tab (next to Styles).

  4. Look for font-family in the property list. You’ll see the primary font listed first, followed by any fallback fonts.

The final fallback is usually serif, sans-serif, or monospace. If none of your specified fonts are available, the browser will use its default font matching these categories.

📌 Note: Your website may use different fonts for headings, paragraphs, or menus. Repeat these steps for other areas of text to identify all fonts in use.
